How you can help

Hey Church,

It’s us again!

In this season we want to look at how we look after each other and also how we serve the community. As we know Jesus has told us to love people and serve them, even if meeting a basic level of need such as a cup of water. To be able to fulfill this we are going to suggest three ways that you can get involved and help to look after people.

Three ways you can help in this season:

  1. Sign up to the buddy system
    • One of the areas we are aware is people who are required to self-isolate due to being at risk or those who are having to self-isolate to protect others. This can cause people to be unable to get hold of much needed supplies. There is also the isolation and loneliness the self-isolation can cause which can affect their mental health. To help with both of these issues we are suggesting that people are paired up (have a buddy), the pair are to call each other every few days to check in and generally have a chat, whilst also finding out about any needs such as shopping or anything else.
    • You can sign up to this by sending an email Buddy@elimleytonstone.org
    • We will then contact you with your buddy and the best contact number for them. We would ask that you stay in touch with them for the duration of the crisis. Informing us at church if they require more support or if you are unable to help them for whatever reason. Then a member of the church leadership can also contact them or help.
  2. We have decided in this season to keep the food bank open as we know people will be finding it tough financially as they won’t be able to work etc. However due to the panic buying we are running low on supplies to feed the 80+ people and families. We are asking for donations to help us to give them even just the basics that are needed. We are asking the church and the community to help us continue this work and to do that we need donations.
    • Donations can be dropped to the church or to Wild Goose Bakery on High road Leytonstone.
  3. The third way to help is to look at the street you live, the community you are apart of and highlight anyone who is in need. Anyone who will need support through this season, we as a church can then arrange support for them. The Wild Goose Bakery have joined us in partnership to help support people who are in need. To be able to give the support we need people to highlight those who are in need.
    • All you need to do is send us an email (with their permission), with details such as name, contact number, address. We will then be in touch with them to see what they need.
