Meet the Need Food Bank

Passionate about serving the local community

Meet the Need | Food Bank

Every Wednesday and Thursday we deliver a foodbank service to those in need of food and support in the local area. We offer a space where people in the community can come together and socialise over hot food and refreshments. Foodbank is open between 10am – 12 noon on a Wednesday and Thursday.

People who attend our foodbank service are referred by relevant government services, and we also accept self-referrals; we simply need you to provide some documentation.

On average we support over 98 people and their families each week, providing non-perishable food, meat and toiletries.

Donations

We provide food on a weekly basis for people within the community, this requires us to have a large source of food. We will gratefully receive food donated by people within our communities as well as supermarkets, stores and business in our community. We always welcome donations and promise to use them to provide help to adults and children in crisis. It’s natural that the first thing anyone thinks to donate to a food bank is food but toiletries and hygiene products are also extremely important and vital to families. Donations can be dropped at church, Monday – Thursday between 10 am and 4 pm.

Items that can be donated:

  • Cereal
  • Noodles,
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Tinned tomatoes/ pasta sauce
  • Lentils, beans and pulses
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tea/coffee

Christmas Meal

Every year we host our annual Christmas Meal, this is a great day when everyone from our food bank, night shelter and church are invited to attend a three course meal. This is an enjoyable event with great food served and a joyful Christmas atmosphere. Each year we serve the traditional Christmas meal along with other options available. This event is held on the last Thursday before Christmas, during the afternoon.
